Hola lovelies ❤ I hope you are doing great as always! There’s another item that you should add to your beauty and makeup care routine: a lip scrub! 👄
What is a lip scrub and why is it so important?
A lip scrub is a gentle exfoliator for your lips, easy! As much as you take care of your skin against wrinkles and for smooth skin, you should ask the same for your lips which gets affected by lipsticks, lip glosses and the weather, not so obvious but it does. It will keep your lips full, healthy, hydrated and remove chapped and dead skin.
A lip scrub also does wonders before you apply your lipstick. It will smooth out and soften the texture of the skin, which in turn will help prevent your lipstick from bleeding and feathering. It should be done maximum twice a week. During winter, you’ll want to do it more but do not 🙅♀️ as it can be risky.
How did I choose my lip scrub?
Well, I did not do much research of all the lip scrubs that are on the market even though I saw so many from known brands such as Lush Cosmetics, Dior, Givenchy, Clinique amongst others but I wanted a 100% natural one and one that would not cost me an arm. So, I tried Amazon! Fumbled a bit, going through some reviews and finally went for the Bimble one just because it looked appetizing 👅 and was not at all expensive.
The product in itself:
- All the lip products from Bimble are made with 100% natural ingredients, including fair-trade organic raw cane sugar and jojoba oil
- They are flavored with natural essential oils and extracts
- They contain no artificial additives, colors, preservatives, petrochemicals or other nasties
- Available in the following flavors: Orange Sherbet, Seaside Rock, Lemon Drop, Mint Chop Chip, Vanilla Fudge, Key Lime Pie, Parma Violet, Double Chocolate, Turkish Delight, Pink Grapefruit, Salted Caramel and Cola Bottle, which I found out of course, after buying the only one that was available on Amazon 🙄 Aren’t the flavors tempting you yet?!
The postman is here!!!
When the sweet pot arrived, I was a surprised of the size. As you see (from the pic above), the pot easily fitted in my palm and believe me, I have small hands. When I went back to Amazon’s site, they mentioned that the dimensions were 3,8 x 3,8 x 3,5 cm and weighed appx. 27,2 g, my bad, I did not look for that detail before buying and also, cannot expect that a lip scrub would come into a 250 g pot *stupid me* because you just need a small amount on your finger to scrub it in.
First impression and application:
The texture is like brown sugar, rough and unrefined, you know like sand. The smell is really nice, like real vanilla fudge and you just want to taste it. Bimble even tells you: “…if you lick it off, we won’t tell anybody if you don’t!” 😜
This paragraph is going to be creepy 🙈 The first time, I used the lip scrub after exfoliation time during my facial skin care, of course, I licked it to found out how it tasted 😂 and it tastes good and sweet, you’ll want to eat it! 😂 But after that, my lips were really soft and smooth. 👄 When I was talking just after the scrubbing, I directly felt that my lips were hydrated as they touched each other. 😍 The exfoliating caster sugar and softening jojoba oil scrub away dead skin and infuse moisture to rejuvenate your smile.
My rating: – I just love it!

(Click here for the original article with photos, variations and more details as below are only the main steps)
- Microwave a spoonful of honey.
Start with 1 tbsp of honey. Microwave it for about 20 seconds until the honey is mostly liquid.
- Stir in a little natural oil.
Stir in 1 tsp of oil to keep your lip scrub smooth and help moisturize your lips. Olive oil, jojoba oil and almond oil are popular options that keep the lip scrub light.
- Add a spoonful of sugar.
Stir in 2 tsp of sugar, an exfoliant that scrapes away dead skin. Most people prefer brown sugar, which can be a little softer than white granulated sugar.
If you have sensitive or sore lips, use superfine (caster) sugar instead, which has extra-small, gentle grains.
- Rub the mixture onto your lips.
Dip a clean finger or cotton swab into the scrub, making sure you pick up some sugar grains. Gently rub this over your lips for about 10 seconds.
- Leave on for up to two minutes.
Exfoliation should only take a few seconds, but the scrub can also moisturize your lips and soothe cracks and sores.
- Rinse off with warm water.
We won’t tell anyone if you decide to lick it off instead. 😜 Once it’s gone, check out your lips in the mirror. Hopefully, they’ll look fresher and feel smoother.
- Store the rest of the lip scrub.
An old eye shadow or lip balm case will work perfectly, although sterilizing is recommended to avoid germs. Depending on how fresh your oil was, this usually lasts about one or two weeks in the fridge before it becomes moldy or rancid.
